Police Crime Report 01/23/23 - 01/29/23

  • On January 23rd, an officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver verbally provided her…well… a, name and date of birth. As the officer was verifying the information, he located a felony warrant for that person.  Boy, was she surprised when the officer placed her in handcuffs detaining her as he continued his computer checks. She quickly realized her mistake and provided her real information. The officer verified that information and determined the real her did NOT have felony warrants. The 27-year-old woman was subsequently charged with false declaration, as well as the original traffic violations she was stopped for.
  • On January 23rd, an officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver had a felony weapons violation warrant out of Illinois. The 21-year-old man was arrested and transported to Saint Louis County Intake to await an extradition hearing.
  • On January 23rd, an officer was contacted by a Shrewsbury business who received two bad checks from a customer who also ignored the 10-day letter sent by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The suspect has been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
  • On January 23rd, a Shrewsbury resident turned in a set of keys that he found near Murdoch Ave. and St. Michael Ave. Contact us if you think they may belong to you.
  • On January 24th, a female drove to the Shrewsbury Police Department as she was being followed by her ex.   For some reason the ex didn’t give up and followed her onto our parking lot where our officers greeted him. One of the officers remembered the man as being wanted for a robbery that occurred just down the street in unincorporated Saint Louis County and detained him. Boy genius asked the officer to retrieve his cell phone from his car, apparently forgetting his phone was sitting next to a big ‘ol meth rock. The 39-year-old man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and fugitive Saint Louis County. The female was provided resources pertaining to the potential domestic violence situation.
  • On January 24th, an officer was contacted by a customer of a business in the 7200 block of Watson Road who said she inadvertently left her credit card behind after paying, which was taken and used by a suspect without permission. The investigation is ongoing.
  • On January 25th, an officer responded to a business in the 7200 block of Watson Road for a vehicle crash in which the striking vehicle left the scene without exchanging information. The investigation is ongoing.
  • On January 25th, numerous emergency vehicles responded to the area of Laclede Station Road near Garden Ave. for a vehicle crash. Investigation revealed the driver suffered an apparent medical emergency while driving and crashed into a light pole and retaining wall. The driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital to receive medical care.
  • On January 28th, an officer responded to a business in the 7200 block of Lansdowne Ave. for a report from an employee of a subject refusing to leave who had since began smoking methamphetamines. Officers located the person, who was in possession of several pieces of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The 31-year-old man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • On January 29th, an abandoned RV was towed from the 7500 block of Arlington Ave, after the owner did not respond to the tow warning.


During the week of January 23rd – January 29th, along with regular calls for service and traffic enforcement, the Shrewsbury Police Department responded to 1 shoplifting incident along the Watson Road business corridor, 9 motor vehicle accidents, 3 residential and commercial alarms, and assisted the Fire / EMS Department on 19 calls.
